A fellow Windster hasa problem
Hi. Having a strange intermittent problem with my 1.2 tce(2011). Every now and again I turn the key... everything lights up as normal...turn the key further to start and nothing happens. No noise...nothing. Turn the key back and then to start again and she fires up fine. Had a new starter put in a few days ago as I was sure it was a failing solenoid but still does it. Battery fine and alternator doing its job. Very intermittent but very annoying. Any thoughts on this?

I realise I haven't got the answer Barbs but my Twingo does this about once a week, and has done since I had it six years ago.....should really get it to a garage at some point...

Hi
Left this reply for fordprefect4..
My Wind was doing this too, RAC mechanic looked at it and said that it's a common ECU glitch on Clios, Twingos and Winds of that age..
Cured the problem by.. when in non starting condition.. disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds.. reconnecting the battery resets the ECU (apparently). The problem has never happened since and that was 6 months ago.
The radio code will not need resetting.
Incidentally, my 1.2 was always a bit stuttery when pulling away from a cold start.. resetting the ECU has cured that too
