Rotating roof....

Post by hezola on Wed 28 Mar 2018 - 19:38

Hi.

So, the engines running
Handbrake is on
I unlock the roof latch
Door windows go down
Boot thingy opens fine
...then roof doesn't open
message on dash 'Check roof'.
There are no obstructions to roof.
Boot thingy closes fine and message then is 'lock roof'.

Handbook says consult dealer which is fine and will do, but does anyone know what the problem is......and would a Renault dealer have any clue since the car hasn't been built since 2012 or whenever?

Cheers in anticipation.

Has it been awhile since you opened the roof? Mine was a bit like that but a little push on the roof from the inside sorted it. Think the rubber had just stuck.

The other problem could be a bit of dirt in the hinge at the back of the lid. It does an up and a little slide backwards to complete the cycle. Blast of air helped mine then a light grease.

I’m with Barbs, if it’s not been opened for a while it tends to suck onto the rubber seal and needs a little push.

Also the car does have to be level for it to work properly, I’ve had my roof not open or close because I’ve been on rough ground or a bad camber, anything that might mean the body has got a bit of a twist to it.

Top tip to avoid this, open the roof whenever it's not raining Laughing

It's fun when you get caught in the rain with the roof down ...
