It's like a face pack for cars. Wink It's a mild abrasive, that removes grit and rubbish that has stuck to the lacquer on the car.

I thought you had someone that cleans the car for you Barb? Why don't you ask them?

Spend the £80 He'll probably be spending £30 of that on clay, polish, and wax

The lack of smoothness you feel is proper your hand running across bare paint mixed in with parts that have varying amounts of lacquer? Has it even been waxed? , get yourself a gentle / standard claybar (recommended before waxing) then wax the car don't be afraid to put about 3/4 layers of wax on depending on the product

I waxed the car when I first got it and had a guy do a valet a couple of times. I used to use a wash and wax combined but thought Saturday it needed a shampoo and wax the car is taking a hammering at work with the dirt. But I think Araf is right I ll book it in for a proper job and pay the money.

True enough it's worth the money, can take me 6 hours to do a few panels on my car.

The wash and wax is usually a liquid wax like carnauba wax it gives a good shine but isn't very durable

I have some marine grade polishes. I can't tell the difference in lustre from a good car polish, but very durable.

It's still worth adding wax afterwards, as you would with any polish, to protect the polished coating.
